In light of his new EP There’s Alot Going On, Vic Mensa was up at the Genius headquarters to break some lyrics from the project. There’s a concept behind plenty of songs on the EP, whether it’s talking about police brutality or tapping into problems in his personal life, but the song “Shades of Blue” speaks on the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. Vic personally headed out to the city in support of the issue, so he’s got some first-hand experience.
Vic rapped the first verse acapella then sat down with Rob Markman to discuss certain lines and the issue in general. He talks everything from water looking like morning piss and media’s mass coverage of the viral Damn Daniel video.
