King of the fall
Weeknd talks 2021 album, owning masters in rare conversation, after the spring-released After Hours project. At the top of the year, The Weeknd dropped his long-awaited fourth studio project; which saw him reuniting with his original House of Balloons producers.
With the world currently going through the pandemic, Abel wasn’t able to tour and lost tons of money. Luckily for him, he wasn’t affected at the loss, and is already working on his next major album.
In a recent conversation, he talks building his X.O. empire with Belly, Nav and others; as well as what to expect in 2021. Take a look at the infromation below.
on Owning Masters:
“It will always be something that we put our 110 percent on, whatever project it is. If it’s time for film, then everybody will be focusing on film. If it’s time for Nav, everybody’s focusing on that. If it’s time for the Weeknd, everyone’s focusing on the Weeknd. We truly believe that an empire can only be great if the heart is in it, the soul is in it.”
Talking next album:
“I might have another album ready to go by the time this quarantine is over. I’m guilty of wanting to outdo my last album. But it’s never like, ‘I’ve got to do the same type of song.’ I’m so happy I’m not like that. My palette is so wide. I’m trying to find a perfect balance with the film and the music, and so far it’s going really well. I think I might have cracked the code.”
Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, known professionally as the Weeknd, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and record producer. He began his recording career in 2010, anonymously uploading several songs to YouTube.
