A definite DETOX contender, which was ultimately derailed by an early leak, officially landing on a free T.I. mixtape (yes, FREE) as consolation prize for his big comeback. The hook changed, both Dr. Dre and T.I. flipped different verses and the fate of the track will remain as a rare gem for real Dr. Dre stans. No video was ever shot besides this studio session and now that Trouble Man has a solid release date, Clifford has moved on to more important things than this little ol Dr. Dre featured track.
“Popped Off” also showed up on a Dr. Pepper commercial (rumored to be the first single from Detox back in 2009) being used as the official teaser of the track in this earlier version. All in all, this could have been a complete monster.
