Winamp Is Making A Comeback in 2019

An oldie but goodie (and one we miss so dearly), Winamp, is making a comeback next year thanks to people who loved the player and want to see it thrive in the new generation. The popular ’90s player shut down in 2013, but seems to be posed for a comeback in 2019, though it’ll be interesting to see how it competes with the Apple Music, Pandora and Spotify’s of the new world.

During its reign, Winamp was mainly used for MP3’s and the revamped version is going to cater to streaming music and podcasts when it makes a return. As of now, there are no more details, but it will be available for desktop and mobile devices at launch.

The new CEO of the company (Alexandre Saboundjian, Radionomy) had this to say about bringing it back, “People want one single experience. I think Winamp is the perfect player to bring that to everybody.”

Aside from nostalgia, we’ll be keeping an eye out because we loved Winamp that much.
