Young artists, take notes from the gawd – Wiz!

With numerous GRAMMY nominations under his belt every year and winning big just last month at the Billboard Music Awards, Wiz Khalifa is still having a few issues behind-the-scenes. According to Variety, the Taylor Gang rapper has filed a lawsuit against his former manager Benjy Grinberg and Rostrum Records, to end his long-time “360-deal” – which profited at his expense by self-dealing.

The lawsuit was filed just yesterday in Los Angeles Superior Courts, which stated Grinberg started representing Khalifa in 2004 when he was just 16, as both the label and himself induced the Pittsburgh entertainer into a 360 agreement. This means, over the years to come, the Taylor Gang company would have to share income streams from both his songwriting and tour merchandising.

Since dropping both personal managers two years ago, Wiz is looking to use the California Labor Code’s seven-year rule to exit his deal. If he’s successful in court, Khalifa could walk away with $1 million dollars for compensatory and punitive damages, as well as covering attorney fees.

For now, stay tuned for his Rude Awakening album with Juicy J and TM88 out this Friday.
