North Memphis native, Yo Gotti was the next guest to sit-down with Peter Bailey for his NiteCap series. Before the interview begins, Bailey vents on the glorification of “dope-boy” rap, where being on-the-block is more important in today’s culture than having a legit clean lifestyle.

The interview centers on gangster-rap marketing of pop culture, which is still being misunderstood for people who have never lived that lifestyle. After sharing a rare personal story on one of his friends becoming victim to the street life; Peter asked Gotti whether he thought the exploitation of artists telling stories of former people in the streets is only being used for material gain.

The Memphis rapper went on to open up about being one of the rare exceptions of that case, where he used had real life experiences being knee deep in the game as therapy for not online himself, but listeners as well. Hit the jump to watch all of the above mentioned where Gotti draws a comparison from his previous street life and transitioning to becoming an entertainer, using all of his hustling abilities and smarts to become success.
