10 Things Phil Jackson Can Do To Resurrect The Knicks

Bowie State v Duke
Do Not Trade Away Anymore Draft Picks

Heading into this June’s draft, the Knicks will be going on their 3rd consecutive year without having a first round draft pick. Due to numerous trades and pure stupidity over the years, their future with young talent will once again be limited. During their last outing in the first round, New York struck gold drafting Iman Shumpert as the 17th overall pick.

Since then, the team hasn’t had a single 1st round pick, extremely limiting the progression of homegrown players in the franchise. Iman has coincidentally been one of the players Phil Jackson has deemed “roster safe,” given he’s a defensive-minded first player willing to sacrifice his offense for the team.

If Phil Jackson is smart, from this moment on, he shouldn’t include any more draft picks for transactions not including Kevin Love or LeBron James. While both free agents are a longshot to land in New York, our sarcasm at the situation should be understood especially based on the bold text above. With another year of potential star-studded players incoming from college highlighted by standout collegiate athletes (Jabari Parker, Joel Embiid, Andrew Wiggins and Julius Randle), New York will be watching another first round of NBA draft action from the sidelines.
