When Carmelo Anthony arrived in New York, many (including him) were under impression that Amar’e Stoudemire would be the 2nd superstar to help will them to an NBA title. After battling injuries for the last 3 years, that hasn’t been the case and even a Linsanity-fluke couldn’t give the team hope outside of the shoulder of Melo. The big elephant in the room for Knicks fans is the pending 2015 summer free agency class. The Knicks are still tied to Stat’s enormous contract for another season, where he’s set to make $23 million in his final year through 2015.
While that’s obviously going to be a tough pill to swallow, there’s light at the end of the tunnel for next summer. Kevin Love, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Rajon Rondo are among the big free agent list of players the Knicks will be looking to acquire. Having the championship hungry Carmelo makes New York a sexier destination for his fellow peers from around the league.
