Miami Heat get: Protected second-round pick

New Orleans Pelicans get: Jarnell Stokes, $700,000 cash

Since losing LeBron James two years ago, the Miami Heat have been in turmoil. Even with the emergence of Dwyane Wade having his healthiest season in nearly five years, the team still has questions heading forward with the health of Chris Bosh and blood clots threatening his career.

Pat Riley and Micky Arison decided they wanted to clear salary cap for the summer, with trading away Jarnell Stokes to free them of a luxury tax fine. Emerging player, Hassan Whiteside is looking for a max-deal this summer, as the Heat are reluctant to commit to him at the moment.

With questions lingering whether or not maxing out Goran Dragić last off-season was the right move also, Riley and Arison will have to sit-down with Wade in the off-season to decide whether or not he wants to waste his last few years in a rebuilding era for the former champions.

Like the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Washington Wizards and others, they’ll be one of the main teams looking to convey Kevin Durant in June.
