Detroit Pistons get: Donatas Motiejunas, Marcus Thornton
Houston Rockets get: Joel Anthony, 2016 first-round pick (top-eight protected)
The marriage between Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets is in its final stages. The team has remained to keep their private feud away from the media and public, but there’s obvious internal issues with both parties. From James Harden showing up to training camp overweight, firing Kevin McHale and exiling from any of their main offensive priorities, Howard has a major decision to make whether or not to opt-in to his $24 million dollars for the 2017 season or pursue free agency.
Donatas Motiejunas, who was an integral piece of the team a few seasons ago with James Harden, has been plagued with injuries – leading to him being moved down the bench. As the Rockets look to build around 21-year-old emerging talent Clint Capela in the front-court, losing Dwight may be good for both sides. This is one of the bigger mysteries around the league.
