Detroit Pistons get: Tobias Harris

Orlando Magic get: Brandon Jennings, Ersan Ilyasova

Stan Van Gundy’s time with the Detroit Pistons could be questioned if they fail to reach the post-season this year. Serving as coach and general manager for the team, he’s looking to build around franchise player Andre Drummond (see: his tenure in Orlando with Dwight Howard).

Detroit acquired Reggie Jackson last summer and have already locked him into short-term contract, with the possibility of receiving a max deal if he continues to average 20 points and more than 6 assist a game. The team decided to part ways with Brandon Jennings and ship him away to Orlando of all place, in a steal for Tobias Harris.

Along with Ersan Ilyasova also receiving the boot, Harris is a consistent three-point shooter that can spread the floor in Van Gundy’s offense for Drummond. He’ll also likely spend time moments as a stretch-four, which is also a cherry on top for them losing the under-performing Jennings.
