Tom Izzo
Although he may not be the most popular pick from fans or players, nobody on this entire list deserves the head coaching opening more than Tom Izzo. For the last 20 years, Izzo has been the Head Coach for the Michigan State Spartans and has won a National Championship. Unfortunately, Tom doesn’t believe he’s in the running for his once-called dream job and is focusing on an NBA head coaching career. Jerry Colangelo has publicly said he’s preferring a current coach from the NBA to fill Krzyzewski’s shoes after his retirement next summer. Izzo remains optimistic about the job, but we’re sure Colangelo will give Tom a second look if some of the more elite professional coaches aren’t open to the job – or its roster past this season.
