Freddie Roach Didn’t Properly Prepare Him For Plan-B

We have to place this entire Manny Pacquiao loss on the hands of Freddie Roach, even though he wasn’t in the ring against Floyd Mayweather himself. After publicly admitting to studying fights with Pacman for their opponent over the last few weeks, they initially felt confident heading into the bout but their game-plan didn’t translate well once Floyd made obvious adjustments. Pacquiao just couldn’t figure out how to throw combination punches at his opponent and it was evident in the scorecard when he only three 86 in total (127 in previous five fights).

Initially, we expected him to come out hungry in the early rounds and go for a kill before the sixth, but Floyd would make his defensive adjustments with wisdom, which countered the speed and quickness Manny was looking to showcase. During each ending of a round, Roach was limited in giving his student advice, which Floyd knew he could control the epic bout during the later stages of the fight and prevail with the unification victory.
