Southpaw fight style poses no threat to Floyd Mayweather
Before this fight even began, some of us were personally laughing at the thought of Mayweather actually going the distance with a southpaw fighter. This also held Manny back from truly allowing his southpaw styled jab-jab and left throw combinations to land on the orthodox defense only Mayweather has.
We’re not saying previous fighters have never been able to tag or get to Floyd in past affairs, but Pacquiao didn’t bring anything new to the ring that Floyd hadn’t seen before – with the exception of his toughness. With only landing only 19% of his entire punches throughout the fight, Mayweather surprisingly had a 34% advantage, throwing more than his opponent. Throughout the entire bout, the left jab just had a zero effect on Mayweather, which he even ended up taunting him with comfort in the scorecard at the peak end of the match.
