Trade Roy Hibbert
How many 7’2 big men do you know that have several scoreless and zero rebound games in the playoffs? Just one comes to mind. His name is Roy Hibbert.
The Pacers center had an ugly downslide into the postseason this year and it appears that both sides are open to trading him. His management has not gone so far as to ask to be traded, but they are not opposed to him leaving Indiana. This may be a situation where a new start would be beneficial to both parties. Hibbert didn’t help his case when he made the comments about there being some “selfish dudes” on the roster, which apparently further divided the locker room.
The only thing that could slow the process is the fact that Hibbert is under contract for $30M currently on a two year deal that allows him the option to opt out in his final year. Would a team be willing to pay Hibbert the money for a one year trial run? It would seem so. As much trouble as he had this postseason, there is still hope for the 27 year old as he has shown flashes of what he can potentially be for the right team.
The Pacers no longer seem to fall into that category.
