Don’t Give Derrick Rose a Maximum Deal
Under no circumstance should the New York Knicks give Derrick Rose a maximum deal. As much as we love D-Rose off-the-court, his best days are behind and is unpredictable with his health and in-game performance. Even with a career low in assist, he has given the Knicks a respectable 17 points a game in 32-minutes an outing. After witnessing Michael Conley get a $153 million deal last summer, he’s looking for an identical pay raise, even if it puts the team in cap trouble.
Following their major trade of Robin Lopez over the summer, the team has saw a drastic cap-increase to well over $100 million (12th highest in the league), so maxing out Rose isn’t the best move we could imagine. Luckily, this is just a season rental, as Rose will look to get one final big pay day, likely the Brooklyn Nets. Dolan loves star power at the Garden, but please let this one go.
