Waive Joakim Noah
Like we previously mentioned, the Knicks have the 12th highest payroll in the entire league, with $100 million going out to players. The trio of Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose, and Joakim Noah absorb $62 million of the cap, which needs to be removed this summer – at all cost. We haven’t been too fond of the Phil Jackson experience in New York, but he’ll finally win over fans if he drafts a top prospect from college hoops and builds the team around Kristaps Porzingis.
In years, past, Noah has been one of the most valuable players in the entire league. However, riddled with multiple injuries and playing in his 10th straight year of professional ball, his time in the NBA may need to conclude. While his play has picked up this first few weeks of the year, we just have concerns over his health to remain consistent over his whopping $72 million contract.
