A Conversation With The Memphis Grizzlies

Are the Memphis Grizzlies the dark-horse to come out the west?

Every year, the San Antonio Spurs are the favorites to come out the Western Conference. Oklahoma City and Los Angeles are mentioned right behind as, but the Memphis Grizzlies are always left out of discussions. Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, Tony Allen and Mike Conley were guest on a recent edition of ESPN’s conversation series, for a sit-down with correspondent Jalen Rose. Touted as the Core Four, the blue collard collective opened up on scarifying points (and money) to bring a championship to the city of Memphis.

Along with having a top front court, the team plays one of the best defenses and has added offensive depth over the off-season with the acquisition of veteran swingman Vince Carter. Before things concluded, Marc Gasol’s free agency was asked from Jalen, which Z-Bo called him the best big man in the league – citing the team they have is family. Whether Gasol leaves for a bigger city (see: Phil Jackson) remains to be seen, but his comfort level in Memphis where he played high school basketball is something that won’t be easy walking away from.
