The 2nd and final day of wild card weekend starts today with a matchup featuring the Indianapolis Colts facing off against the Baltimore Ravens.
Last week, Ray Lewis held a press conference stating that at the conclusion of the postseason he would retire, due to multiple injuries. The future hall of famer, however, wouldn’t be stepping that far away from the field just yet, as he was announced to join ESPN for Monday Night Countdown next fall.
These two teams didn’t play each other during the season, so it’s the first time the Ravens defense will see Andrew Luck in action. Luck has led his Colts back to post-season, with an 11-5 record in his rookie year, just one season after winning two games last year.
To say this is an emotional game will be an understatement. Former Ravens defense coordinator Chuck Pagano will be making his return to M&T Bank Stadium for Ray’s final home game and his first coaching game since his return back from chemo.
For this game, the Ravens are the favorite to win, not only because of their defense, but because of the team coming together for Ray Lewis, so he could go out this year with a home victory.
This isn’t going to be an easy win for Ravens either, as the Colts defense has begun to show signs of potential. The new group is very intrigued to play harder, as QB Andrew Luck shows he’ll be a top QB for years to come.
With the Ravens defense now healthy for the first time all year (for the most part), it’s going to be very interesting to see how the Colts offense reacts to that.
