There has been a lot of talk surrounding Nick Saban this week, mostly from unconfirmed reports saying that he is bolting from Alabama for Texas after Mack Brown steps down. While most of the chatter is speculation at this point, AJ McCarron can keep ‘Bama fans with less anxiety after his interview with ESPN today.
During his chat, he said he’s asked Saban about leaving the program in the past and has been told it’s not happening. The timetable for that question is a little blurry, but he emphasized that Saban’s wife loves it in Alabama and coach has never lied to him the entire time he’s known him. Reassuring news, but not 100% yet. According to AJ, he already built two programs, so leaving ans starting over doesn’t sound like an option.
Alabama has given Saban an “offer of commitment,” and coach has been spending his time recruiting and preparing for his Sugar Bowl game against Oklahoma, which is why he’s been quiet over the past week amidst the rumors.
He also discussed the pressure they have to win at Alabama after multiple championships and how they will move forward from a “disappointing season” in 2013.
