Aldon Smith Officially Reinstated By the NFL

Is San Francisco saved with Aldon’s return?

After having one of the worst off-seasons in the history of their franchise, the San Francisco 49ers finally get some good news for their troubled season. Outside linebacker, Aldon Smith has officially been reinstated following his original 9-game suspension handed down before the start of the NFL season.

Aldon’s bank account and career took a significant hit this year, when he violated the league’s substance abuse and personal conduct policies multiple times; but now he’s ready to begin his 2014 season. San Francisco has had a lackluster year with a 5-4 record, but with Carson Palmer officially ruled out the entire season due to injuries and the NFC becoming worse by the second, the 49ers still have a legit shot at making a deep run.

Today, they lost linebacker Patrick Willis for the rest of the season due to a left big toe surgery, which Aldon will look to fill in the void and help their much-needed secondary. The team previously lost consecutive games to the St. Louis Rams and Denver Broncos; but shocked all last Sunday defeating the New Orleans Saints on the road in overtime. They now move onto have a big rivalry game this Sunday afternoon against the New York Giants and have two marquee games against the Seattle Seahawks – with the season winding down.
