Alex Rodriguez on Decision to Retire from Baseball

Farewell, A-Rod!

Over the last two weeks, the New York Yankees have officially cleaned up the majority of their roster, generating transactions to have the second best farm system in the entire MLB.

The team announced a surprise Sunday morning conference, with rumors swirling that their legendary in-fielder could be hanging up his cleats. A tearful Alex Rodriguez sat down to address media, starting things off with, “I love this game, I love this team. Today I’m saying goodbye to both.”

The Yankees stated that he would play in his final MLB game ever, this Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays; but will coincidentally play in his final three road games this week against the Boston Redsox.

So, after 22-years, he officially retires from the game of baseball, as his immediate hall-of-fame considerations become a question. In comparison to those linked to PEDs from year’s past, A-Rod had been one of the first of few to actually admit to usage – but it was forced under oath.

On Friday, he’s expected to get a few at-bats, as he’ll assume the role of an ambassador, special adviser and instructor for the team until December 31st of next year – beginning next spring training near his residence in Miami. Although he’s being released of his contract and sent home next weekend, Mr. Rodriguez will be taking home his $20 million guaranteed that was for 2017.
