The Cavs suffer major front court blow with big injury

The Cleveland Cavaliers depth has taken a major blow, with news surfacing theat Anderson Varejao will have to miss the remainder of the 2015 season – due to a torn Achilles. Last night, during the third quarter in a blowout win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anderson landed very awkwardly on the floor and wasn’t able to put any weight on his leg. An MRI revealed the unfortunate news for his fate this season, as the Cavs now look to Tristan Thompson for more production, in not only the obvious offense – but much needed defense they’re lacking.

Lou Amundson and Brendan Haywood’s roles are expected to be increased, as the Cavs have a few weeks to decide their next option before February’s trade deadline. Jermaine O’Neal is also another option, who would get an immediate increase for minutes played in comparison to the imminent deal he has in place with the Dallas Mavericks, to play back-up to Tyson Chandler. With questions still surrounding the durability of the Chicago Bulls and experience for the Toronto Raptors, Cleveland and their fans shouldn’t panic right now.

There’s still four months of regular season play to build chemistry, if Thompson can contribute respectively.
