Before the season, the Minnesota Timberwolves were predicted to make the playoffs in the Western Conference by some, but so far, the young core hasn’t been living up to expectations.
They’ll show flashes of greatness, whether it’s Karl-Anthony Towns snapping one game, Zach Lavine breaking out the dunk contest slams during the game or Andrew Wiggins putting on a show.
Tonight against the Phoenix, it was Wiggins’ time to shine again.
Not only did he drop 31 points and bring down 6 rebounds, but he hit the game winner at the buzzer. There were six second left, Lavine in-bounded the ball to Ricky Rubio, who found Wiggins at top of the key. Wiggins tried to shake and bake, but he slipped and somehow got the shot up over P.J. Tucker, sinking that shit to the bottom of the net.
It was a hard shot, but the boy came up clutch.
Devin Booker had 26 points, while Tyson Chandler dropped 22 points for the Suns, but Wiggins wasn’t the only one with a highlight reel. Marquese Chriss followed up the other day with a reverse alley-oop thanks to a sweet pass from Eric Bledsoe.
Also, Towns had a monster block against Booker. KAT damn near caused a crater on the hardwood.
