Andrew Wiggins Responds To Trade Rumors

I’m a rookie, I don’t really have too much to say.” (c) Andrew Wiggins

The past month of Andrew Wiggins’ NBA career must have been a journey of high’s and lows. He was picked number one in the 2014 NBA Draft, then he gets thrown in the mix surrounding trade rumors. His coach stands behind him during the start of the Summer league, now he’s 20 days away from putting on a Timberwolves jersey.

Which makes his recent photoshoot for a Panini rookie card all that more rare.

When interviewed by ESPN earlier today, Wiggins kept his most of his composure and answered in a politically correct way, something surprising for being just 19 years old. He was thrown questions about what the Cavaliers organization thinks about him or whether or not they’ve contacted him about the situation, if he’s spoken to LeBron James at all, and how he felt about LBJ going to Cleveland.

And with every question, he answered maturely. It wasn’t until the final two that he got out of character and nearly crumbled, but was still honest.

At the end of the day you have to remember that the NBA is a business before anything. I just want to play for a team that wants me. So whichever team wants me I’ll play for.

We’re sure whatever team he suits up for to start the 2014-2015 season, Andrew will be alright. Especially with that chip on his shoulder and drive to prove to everyone that he deserved to be the #1 pick.
