Team USA may have found the legit all-around player they’ve been looking for in Anthony Davis.

Last night, Team USA Men’s Basketball played in their first exhibition game for 2014, leading up to the official FIBA World Cup games later this month. While all attention was on Derrick Rose in his return home to the United Center, fellow Chicago native Anthony Davis was the talk of the night when the final buzzer sounded. The New Orleans Pelicans all-star center showcased one of the more impressive outings for a Team U.S.A. first timer, raising eyes all night.

He would lead all scorers with 20 points each, giving both Coach K and Jerry Colangelo a huge sigh of relief following their previous depleted front court of scoring. With Kevin Durant, Kevin Love and Paul George all withdrawing from action, Davis essentially guaranteed his spot on the team in the performance – which will see 4 last cuts in the next two weeks.
