It’s no secret that Argentina have some of the most exciting forwards in the world, but an average performance only earned them a 2-1 victory over Bosnia. The opening goal arrived during the first few minutes of the game, as a free-kick from Messi came off Kolasinic in the area to put the ball into the back of his own net. While Argentina had moments in attack, Bosnia kept a strong formation for the entirety of the match, and managed to build on counter attacks on the notably weaker players in defence.
After having an average game, Messi produced a moment of sheer class by taking the on the Bosnia defence at pace and powering the ball into the far corner. This is the Messi we’re used to seeing in a Barcelona shirt. While the game looked to be heading away from Bosnia, Ibisevic put the ball through the legs of Romero to make it 2-1. Unfortunately, the goal arrived too late in the game to make a real impact.
