Following the 0-0 result in the first leg, Atletico Madrid used the away goals factor to their advantage in order to bounce back to a 3-1 win over Chelsea. Torres began the scoring at just over the half hour mark by converting an assist from Azpilicueta, with the Spanish forward choosing not to celebrate against his former club. As expected, Atletico wouldn’t let the scoreline settle, and a slacking Chelsea defence gave Lopez the chance to hit the ball into the top of the net from inside the area. With all to play for in the second half, Eto’o brought down Costa inside the penalty during the 60th minute, who imminently scored from the penalty spot in style. Atletico made the final scoreline 3-1 just 10 minutes later, after Turan struck the crossbar with a header, but was able to react quick enough with his feet.
Atletico Madrid will face Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League, which will take place at Estádio da Luz on May 24th.
