Welcome to the future of the New York football Giants
The coaching search for the New York Giants has come to an end, as the team has appointed Ben McAdoo to be successor to the job that Tom Coughlin left at the start of the offseason.
McAdoo has served as the G-Men’s offensive coordinator the past two seasons and is very familiar with the likes of Eli Manning and Odell Bckham Jr. in the system, bringing back somewhat of continuity to the squad in the wake of Coughlin’s departure. With his hire, he becomes the second youngest coach in the NFL.
The Giants organization quickly hired him in fear of him going elsewhere, regarding him as a young leader on the come up, even drawing comparisons to Andy Reid when he first went to Philadelphia as coach of the Eagles.
He released a statement today on the new position:
“I am honored. I have been very fortunate to have a lot of great coaches, administrators and players take an interest in me and my career. It has been a privilege to work and learn under Coach Coughlin. I have been preparing for this moment my entire professional life, and without the guidance and support of many people, I would not be here right now.”
Steve Spagnuolo will remain on staff as the Giants defensive coordinator, while the search starts for an offensive coordinator. According to some reports, Joe Philbin is a favorite for the job.
Expect the team to introduce McAdoo formally on Friday at a press conference.
