We have our first NFL head coaching vacancy filled already, now that the Houston Texans locked down Bill O’Brien last night. O’Brien was previously considered one of the top candidates on the market and rumored to be the Texans top target, following the firing of Gary Kubiak a few weeks ago. O’Brien was so high on everyone’s NFL vacancy list, being an offspring of the Bill Belichick coaching tree, after taking over the Penn State program following the infamous Jerry Sandusky scandal.
He walks into a situation in Houston that is very favorable and will get to start his coaching tenure by making the #1 selection in the 2014 NFL Draft. He also takes over a team that is not short in talent in any way, because the Texans have play-makers on both sides of the ball. With the addition of O’Brien, it would be no surprise to us if the Texans were right back in the playoff picture as soon as next year.
The only question left is, who do they take with the #1 pick? Let us know who you think Houston should draft in the comments.
