Boston Loves David Ortiz So Much He Came In 3rd Place In The Recent Mayoral Election

MLB: World Series-Boston Red Sox Parade

Big Papi almost did it again for the city of Boston. The Red Sox slugger is undoubtedly the most popular man in Boston after leading them to another World Series championship last week, literally on his back. On Tuesday, Ortiz’s popularity almost shot into another atmosphere, when he came in third place for the Boston mayoral election, off the strength of votes. Ortiz had a slim chance of winning the race, but the fact that he came in third is amusing in itself.

We think Big Papi needs to set up that campaign run immediately when he retires though, because he might be a lock for Governor of Massachusetts at this point.
