Brook Lopez Officially Out For The Season After Suffering Broken Foot Last Night Against 76ers.
The Brooklyn Nets season may officially be over now with their best player, Brook Lopez, out for the year. The Nets center broke his foot last night after going up for routine rebound and landed awkwardly, soon grimacing in pain. Team trainers would run X-rays on Lopez after the game, which was when the detrimental news would surface. During the off-season, the Nets had championship aspirations acquiring Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry; and were touted as a legit threat to the Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers, if healthy.
Nets owner, Mikhail Prokhorov made the move in the off-season as part of his two year championship plan, but those dreams look to be over. Brooklyn currently has the highest salary in the league (at $102,211,009), and their season hasn’t been successful this far, obtaining a 9-17 record. Injuries have plagued the team throughout the year with Deron Williams, Paul Pierce, Andrei Kirilenko and Jason Terry all missing multiple games in the season. Brook going down is the nail in the coffin and has ended all championship hopes for their team, but most of all, the owner.
