The Carolina Panthers have had a disappointing offseason and the bad news just keeps coming. After losing Steve Smith, Ted Ginn Jr. and Brandon LaFell from their receiver core the past few weeks, it looks like Cam Newton will be on hiatus for the next four months, following an ankle surgery set to go down tomorrow in North Carolina.
The injury stems from a Week 16 game against the New Orleans Saint, which lingered for the remainder of the season and through the playoffs.
Cam Newton is not expected to miss any games to start the Panthers season, but will miss some of the mini-camps in that take place in May and June. Doctors have said Cam should return by the start of training camp. So that’s good news, at least.
