Canelo Álvarez & Triple G Announce Fight Date & Exchange Words

This fall!

Saturday evening, the boxing world witnessed Canelo Alvarez, dominate Julio César Chávez Jr. for 12 rounds, in a middleweight class grudge match. The non-title sanctioned fight, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Alvarez essentially having a sparring bout, as his opponent could do nothing.

However, immediately after the fight ended, HBO transitioned focus to their biggest event of the year, bringing Gennady Golovkin in the ring. After breaking down his victory, Canelo made the official fight date for September 16th, as the west coast crowd immediately went into a frenzy.

Triple G soon offered good luck to his opponent, as Canelo said luck was for the mediocre. Following a fresh shower and a new suit, Alvarez took his first promo photos with Triple G, which shouldn’t be a question whether or not HBO had this planned from the start.

Be sure to clear your Saturday night calendars on the previously mentioned date.
