In one of the biggest fights of the year, Canelo Alvarez and Amir Khan faced off in the ring at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Using speed and movement, Khan was giving Alvarez fits in the first few rounds, using his jabs to keep his opponent at a distance. It’s exactly how the boxer and his team had planned it out.

Saul looked like he was losing more rounds than he imagined, but didn’t get nervous, going for shots to the body to slow down the fact that Khan was dictating the pace of the fight.

Then in the sixth round, all it took was one right hand punch to the chin and Khan was on the canvas face up and knocked out cold. After the monster hit, Alvarez even went to check on Khan, getting on one knee and making sure he was okay while the crowd cheered his victory.

Alvarez retained the 160-pound world title and now improves to a record of 47-1-1, with 33 of his wins coming by way of knockout.

As big as the knockout was, the bigger news came after the fight when Canelo was asked about a potential fight with Gennady Golovkin, who has been calling him out recently. Alvarez said he is not scared of anyone and would fight him right then and there, potentially setting up the fight all boxing fans have been waiting for. If it actually goes down or if he’s talking just to talk is yet to be seen, but the two sides have 30 days to make it happen and set the bout up for September.
