Will the Knicks trade Carmelo?
Just two three years ago, Carmelo Anthony was the third most sought out free agent this decade, when he revealed almost signing to the L.A. Lakers and playing with Kobe Bryant in 2014.
However, he decided to stay with the New York Knicks and ink a five-year deal, worth upwards of $124 million. Over the summer, Phil Jackson added off-season pieces Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah, leading many to believe they could be an actual legit threat in the east.
Unfortunately, New York looks like they won’t make the playoffs again, as we’re anticipating an imminent roster blowup this summer. Following recent public criticism from team president Phil Jackson, the two soon met behind-the-scenes and cleared issues – for now.
Right now, NYK looks like they’re not going to be able to land anymore free agents until Melo is moved, which he confirmed that he’ll only consider waiving his no-trade clause if the team tells him they want to move in another direction. With the exception of Kristaps Porzingis, we’d suggest the Knicks management get rid of the entire team and Phil Jackson this summer.
Destinations like the Los Angeles Clippers have been ideal, but we should know before the trade deadline and most likely this summer if this marriage is finally coming to an end.
