With the sheer amount of holiday fixtures coming to an end, Chelsea closed out the last game of 2013 with a 2-1 Premier League win over Liverpool. Despite an early lead from the Reds thanks to a fourth minute goal from Skrtel, the London club were able to fight back and finish off the game before the end of the first half, with goals coming from Hazard and Eto’o. Although Torres didn’t begin the match against his former club, the Spanish player did make an appearance within the dying minutes, and nearly managed to clinch a goal after a powerful run into the penalty area.
Today’s games now leave Chelsea in third place in the league, along with Liverpool dropping to fifth after topping the league just before Christmas.
