In what may prove to be one of the most important results of the season, Chelsea earned all three points in a 2-0 victory over Liverpool. The home side got off to an understandably quick start to the game, despite Chelsea taking their time in order to handle the constant pressure. The blues continued to build on a a similar defensive performance versus Atletico Madrid in the week, and a mistake from Gerrard gifted Ba a one-on-one task against Mignolet, who managed to slot the ball home on the stroke of half time. The second half saw Liverpool with much of the attacking play yet again, but were unable to breakthrough. With the reds throwing pretty much their entire team forward towards the end, Torres and Ba had a two-on-one situation with the keeper, with the Senegal international managing to score during the 94th minute.
Chelsea remain in second behind Liverpool with just two games to go, giving Man City an upper hand in third with still a game in hand left to play.
