The last World Series win in Wrigley Field: October 8, 1945

After dropping the last two games at Wrigley Field against the Cleveland Indians, things looked bleak for the Chicago Cubs. They faced elimination from the World Series after such a long drought to even get to this point. But the young Cubbies kept fighting.

It took a Kris Bryant home run in the fourth inning (as part of a three-run inning), Jon Lester to allow four hits in six innings, plus five strikeouts and an Aroldis Chapman eight out save for the Cubs to pull this one off at home.

Jose Ramirez opened up the scoring for the Indians in the top of the 2nd inning by hitting a solo shot against Lester.

Things remained that way until the 4th inning when Bryant hit his first career home run in the World Series to tie things up at one each. The Anthony Rizzo hit a blast to the ivy for a double. Addison Russell brought Rizzo home as part of a three-run inning.

Cleveland kept at their heels, though.

Francisco Lindor got an RBI in the top of the 6th inning to bring the Cubs lead to within one.

But then Chapman took the mound and shut down all of the Indians bats with his 100mph+ pitches. Eight outs later, the Cubs got the win thanks to a Ramirez strike out.

There will be a Game 6!

The Cubs trail the Indians 3-2 in the series as things move to Cleveland for the final two games. For Game 6, Jake Arrieta will face Josh Tomlin.

Only six (out of 45) teams have come back from a 3-1 World Series deficit to win. The last time it happened was in 1985 when the Kansas City Royals beat the St. Louis Cardinals.

FINAL: CHI 3 | CLE 2
