It looks like the Houston Rockets are in some trouble because not only did they start the season on the wrong foot and have had to climb back into the Western Conference standings, but now, one of their players is injured — yet again.
In last night’s loss against the Miami Heat, Chris Paul left the game with a strained left hamstring in the second quarter. It happened when he dribbled past half-court behind his back and try to cut the other way, then was seen visibly grabbing the back of his leg afterward.
With no timetable set for his return, the Rockets can only hope he’d back soon. CP3 will undergo an MRI today to see the extent of the damage.
This is a major blow to Houston’s chances of getting a good seed in the West, with James Harden having to carry the burden for the time being.
Will they even make the playoffs at this point?
What’s for certain is their window for a championship is quickly closing, if not already shut. That narrative of them contending against the Golden State Warriors is news of the past. It’s a wrap for them.
UPDATE: According to ESPN, after the MRI, Paul suffered a Grade 2 strain and will be missing at least 2 weeks. He will be reevaluated after that to see if he could return to the practice and to the team.
