Will Johnny Manziel stay?
After posting a 3-13 season, you probably could have seen this a mile away, but it looks like the Cleveland Browns have made it official and parted ways with head coach Mike Pettine. They have also fired general manager Ray Farmer, following the loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier today.
In two years as head coach of the Browns, Pettine finishes his tenure with the team with an abysmal record of 10-22, including 18 losses in the last 21 games.
Since 1999, the team has had seven full time coaches and now look towards another rebuild period.
“We greatly appreciate Ray’s and Mike’s dedication and hard work while with the Cleveland Browns. We’ve made this decision because we don’t believe our football team was positioned well for the future. We are all disappointed with where we are and we take full responsibility. We will approach the search for our next football coach and executives to lead our football operations with a clear vision regarding what we need to do to build a successful organization.” – Browns owner Jimmy Haslam
Aside from the record and bad season, Coach Pettine also had a media circus in Cleveland surrounding Johnny Manziel, who was given the starting quarterback job, then demoted when footage of him at a party surfaced during their BYE week. The controversy continued when another video surfaced of Johnny Football partying, but no action was taken the second time around.
