The Cleveland Browns Name Brian Hoyer Week One Starting QB

Johnny Manziel, Brian Hoyer, Connor Shaw, Tyler Thigpen
Browns stand by their native Ohioan Hoyer, as Manziel has to wait for imminent job.

The most talked about story in sports during the NFL pre-season has been the quarterback situation for the Cleveland Browns. The team is fresh from their pre-season loss against the Washington Redskins, which essentially became the deciding factor in coaches making their decision. Hoyer had a lackluster affair of completing 2-of-6 passes for only 16 yards, while Manziel completed 7-of-16 passes; including a touchdown to throw for over 65 yards.

Coincidentally, third-string rookie QB Connor Shaw had a better outing than both running-mates combined throwing for over 123 yards with 8-of-9 passes completed. In the midst of naming their starter, Browns management did assure no job was safe for all 16 weeks of season play – which we expect both QBs to start focusing on the season.

Luckily for Manziel, he avoids three of the toughest defense in the entire NFL, with Cleveland opening their 2014 season to play Pittsburgh, New Orleans and Baltimore before their week 4 bye. We expect Johnny Football to assume the starting role after week 5, when they play host to Tennessee Titans, as he will have time to learn the playbook.
