$61 Million guaranteed? Yeah, Colin Kaepernick won in this deal.

Now that Colin Kaepernick has moved away and appears to be in clear from the Miami incident where he was being investigated for sexual assault over, the San Francisco 49ers have finally granted him his wishes. Kaepernick finally got a chance to sit-down with the front office of his time for the first time since February, with hopes of getting a contract extension done before training camp begins in a few weeks. He officially became their franchise quarterback after leading the team to a successful run during the 2013 playoffs.

The team would eventually lose to the Baltimore Ravens in the Super Bowl and were favorites to win last year before they ran into the recent world champion Seattle Seahawks. The 26-year-old’s status and future with the team had been questioned at spurts during the season, but the 49ers have ended all speculation giving him a six-year extension reportedly worth over $110 million. The eye raiser in the deal is not only the money, but the guaranteed $61 million he’s set to receive making it a NFL record. Video conversation and more after the jump.

That’s obviously Tom Brady-like money the young Colin will be receiving but San Francisco is confident in their star heading forward to make him a top 10-paid quarterback in the league. With Super Bowl 50 coming to the city in 2016 and their Levi’s Stadium opening next month, the team will be looking to get over the hump and finally win a championship under this regime.
