One of UFC’s most over-hyped fights ever ends in 13 seconds!
Prior to the obvious, UFC 184 was on its way to becoming one of the greatest pay-per-views from the promotion this entire year. After Chris Weidman suffered his first ever career loss to Luke Rockhold for the UFC middleweight title, all focus soon shifted to what Dana White and UFC were calling their biggest bout in MMA history, with Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo soon taking the ring.
The MGM Grand Garden Arena crowd had just witnessed Ronda Rousey’s shocking defeat a few weeks prior to Holly Holm, as Conor McGregor and José Aldo were next up to add more history to the UFC brand this fall. Unfortunately, their outing lasted just 13-seconds, which The Notorious one from Ireland would connect with just one precise left hook to the chin of Scarface.
UFC 193: Ronda Rousey suffers 1st loss
UFC 194: Chris Weidman suffers 1st loss
UFC 194: Jose Aldo suffers 1st UFC loss
The Las Vegas crowd was pro-McGregor, so we didn’t see backlash for the shortened fight initially – until a few complains on social media. This unification of the UFC Featherweight Championship marked the 15th consecutive victory for Conor, and now has the most KOs since 2013 with 6.
For over 6 years, Aldo’s reign as the Featherweight Champion was one of the most dominant runs we’ve ever witnessed. However, none of us personally expected his title run to come to an end this dramatically. McGregor soon said after the fight “Nobody can take that left hand shot,” and judging by Aldo falling asleep before hitting the mat, his claims were exactly true.
Whether or not a rematch takes place remains to be seen, but we know Dana White and the UFC offices are thrilled one of their poster guys closed out 2015 as a champion.
Waited months and months for this Fight 😂
