Costa Rica Advance On Penalties With Win Over Greece

Much likes yesterday’s game between Brazil and Colombia, the second match this Sunday ended 1-1 in normal time, with Costa Rica then winning against Greece on penalties. Despite a dull first half, the Costa Rican keeper was on form to keep the score level, which was just a taster of what he had in store for the remainder.

Costa Rica scored at the beginning of the second half with a goal from Ruiz, who carefully placed the ball into the far corner from the edge of the penalty area.

The Greek keeper was left standing still.

Later into the half, Duarte was handed a red for Costa Rica after a second bookable offence. Despite that, they still looked certain to win the game.

Navas continued to show courage.

That was until Greece grabbed a later equalizer from Sokratis, who picked up on a rebound to take the game to extra time. 1-1.

Even during the additional 30 minutes, Navas was the player to keep Costa Rica in the game.

The game eventually went to penalties, and Umana’s goal secured a win for Costa Rica, who go through to the quarter final.

The emotion.
