Memphis continues fantastic play with the NBA’s best record
The past 48 hours for the Sacramento Kings, have been some of the worst in the franchise’s history of regular season play. Tuesday night, the team blew a 24-point lead to the Dallas Mavericks, where Dirk Nowitzki and his emerging collective of players had a big second half to pull away with a big home victory. That trend would follow the Kings of northern California to Tennessee in another Southwest meeting – this time against the Memphis Grizzlies. Rudy Gay led all scorers with 25 points, but that wasn’t enough to stop the insane 65-point rally in the second half from Memphis to overcome a big deficit, 26 points to be exact.

The Grizzlies would eventually tie the game and soon take a 1-point lead with 20 seconds left off a major deep three from Mike Conley. Demarcus Cousins would get fouled on the next ensuing possession to hit a pair of free-throws, but Zach Randolph wasn’t so lucky in his attempt to the basket. With 0.6 seconds left, Memphis was forced to foul Ben McLemore, as he would make the first and miss the second.

Only left with 0.3 seconds remaining, the Grizzlies had one last shot to win the rally game, and were lucky to catch the Kings sleeping on defense in one of the worst defensive breakdowns ever. Vince Carter would simply toss a floater to Courtney Lee for a reverse lay-up to end regular in a 111-100 win. This victory now extends Memphis’ regular-season home winning streak to 18, as they now have the NBA’s best record at 8-1. They now get to rest at home tomorrow, for a big meeting Saturday night against the Detroit Pistons.
