Rondo finally trades in his green for dallas blue!
One of the biggest sought after free agents this summer, was set to be Rajon Rondo. The former Kentucky and previous NBA Champion saw much success in Boston with Doc Rivers, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett of the Celtics during the late 2000s. Injuries and lack of leadership in the front office soon sealed their fate, with Doc and the big 3 all exiting. For two seasons, Rondo was left stranded with a team of young players and no hope for the future of returning to the May stretch of the NBA’s playoffs.
Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks acted fast to quickly acquire the star point guard – trading away Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson and a future first- and second-round draft pick. The New York Knicks, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers were being viewed as his most likely destinations this summer; but now being aligned with the league’s best owner and a top coach has Rondo buying in to playing with greats.
Where are these guys when you really need them?

Boston will send Rajon Rondo and Dwight Powell to Dallas for Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jamar Nelson, 2015 first-round and future second.

The starting five he joins now consisting of Dirk Nowitzki, Monta Ellis, Tyson Chandler and Chandler Parsons, as they are now a legit threat to dethrone the San Antonio Spurs. Last season, they were the only team to the take Gregg Popovich’s championship dynasty to 7 games, giving them their biggest challenge in 2014.
Much like the championship Mavericks team with Jason Kidd, Rondo will fill in the void of their floor leadership that was missing this year. Although he won’t be primary ball handler on the court with Ellis, Dirk and Chandler all dominating the rock as well, they’ll have one of the top IQ play-makers the league currently provides.
