After being drafted No. 2 in this year’s NBA Draft, that was only the beginning for rookie D’Angelo Russell. The point guard out of Ohio State University was a surprise pick for the Los Angeles Lakers, after it was predicted they would take Jahlil Okafor with the second pick. The Lakers organization obviously saw something in Russell and think that he will be one of the key pieces that will carry the team into the future.
Ever since getting drafted, it’s been an up and down offseason for D’Angelo, not impressing too much in Summer League, but working on his craft and getting praise from Kobe Bryant as a ‘gym rat.’
With the start of the season around the corner, Russell talks about what it has meant to put on that Lakers uniform while behind-the-scenes footage of him in the locker room, practice and him going up against some of the best rookies in the league this past summer plays as well.
