A lot of people only get to dream their dream. I lived that dream.”

At only 23 years old, New York Giants running back David Wilson, has been advised by doctors to not play another down in the NFL again.

After being put on injury reserve because of a neck stinger in training camp, they shut Wilson down for the season and re-examined his injury. Doctors concluded that he suffered from diffuse cervical stenosis, even after undergoing spinal fusion surgery in early January. This was all a result from his neck injury on Week 5 of last season, which saw him out for the remainder of 2013.

The Giants had big hopes for the former first round pick, who was going to share the load with Rashad Jennings. Now, newly promoted Peyton Hillis has gone down with an ankle injury in practice, cutting down the depth of the squad at running back.

At age 8 I told my #Dad I wanted to play football in THE NFL at this point in my life I have done that. Even Blessed to be drafted in the 1st round. Broke and set RECORDS, scored Touchdowns, and all that follows. It’s a great feeling to live a out dream. Unfortunately that has been paused but I am blessed that I am able to walk away from this game healthy and still able to be me with no restrictions pain or struggle and So all I ask is please don’t be sorry or pity ME that’s just one chapter life goes on and I’m glad I can live it. Once a Giant always a #Giant

As of today, David Wilson will end his career with five touchdowns and 504 rushing yards in 21 games.
