Dennis Rodman Rips New York Knicks & Carmelo Anthony

Kick the #KNICKSTAPE while they’re down

As a player that was under the wing of Phil Jackson several times throughout his NBA career, Dennis Rodman knows a thing or two about his Triangle Offense. Now that Jackson is out in New York trying to turn the Knicks organization around as their GM after years of mediocrity, things haven’t started out so good with rookie coach Derek Fisher. The team is currently sitting at 4-18, their worst start after 22 games in their entire tenure as a basketball organization.

So what does Dennis Rodman have to say about the current Knicks squad? A LOT.

“I saw him a couple of times on TV when I was in L.A., and I’m like, I know what you feel like, Phil. You came to be the savior and all of a sudden it’s like, ugh. Then you went and got Derek Fisher. Really, is he coaching? Is Derek Fisher coaching? I don’t get it. I don’t know what’s up with that team, man. You’ve got Carmelo and after that who else do you got? They’re not running the triangle. Derek Fisher’s not really coaching. I know Phil is trying to throw his input in the background, but who expected this from Phil? They expected him, we’re going to give you $15 million a year for the next six years and this team is — wow — they might not even make the playoffs.”

He also went on to say that there is probably nobody in the league that wants to go to New York to play with ‘Melo because he hogs the ball too much and even though Michael Jordan was like that too, he’s not a leader like him. Phil put the pieces around him that fit and made the Bulls a dynasty. He then went on to say that he learned the triangle in 15 while he was in Chicago and can’t understand why it’s been so hard for this team to grasp the concept.
